BUILD Statement On Rep. Brady Becoming Chairman Of The House Ways & Means Committee

With the formal announcement that Representative Kevin Brady is now the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, the BUILD Coalition has released the following statement:

“The BUILD Coalition welcomes Representative Kevin Brady as the new Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and we look forward to working with him and others on the Committee, including its newest member, Representative Tom Rice, on comprehensive tax reform that fosters long-term growth, creates jobs, and strengthens businesses in every sector of the economy,” said BUILD spokeswoman Sabrina Siddiqui. “The BUILD Coalition maintains that any pro-growth reform must preserve the ability to fully deduct interest payments, which in turn enables firms to obtain capital needed for new investments. We hope lawmakers continue to recognize interest deductibility as a normal and necessary business expense that is foundational to businesses of all sizes and in all sectors, and we look forward to our continued work with the Committee.”
